
Moreland Named ECHL Saver of the Week

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. â The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the New York Islanders, are pleased to announce that goaltender Jake Moreland has been selected as the Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week for the week of December 27-January 2. The announcement came this afternoon from the ECHL offices in Princeton.
Moreland, 24, went 3-0 in three starts for the Bullies last week with a 0.66 goals against average and a .977% save perecentage in wins over divisional opponents Dayton, Trenton, and Toledo. The Grand Forks, ND native has started a club-record 23 consecutive games and is 17-4-2 for the season with a 2.18 goals against average and a .933% save percentage. Moreland leads the ECHL in wins (17), minutes (1488), and saves (748), and his goals against average ranks eighth among goaltenders.
Moreland is the third Bullies player to be recognized by the ECHL in 2004-05, joining forwards Brett Nowak and Derek Edwardson who were each selected as the InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week in November. Edwardson was also named the CCM Vector Rookie of the Month for November.
The Bullies open a four-game road trip at 7PM tonight at Dayton. Atlantic City returns to Historic Boardwalk Hall at 7:05PM on Wednesday, December 12 when they host the West Division Bakersfield Condors. Every Wednesday home game is a "Wild Wednesday."
