
Farrish Named Coach In Coors Light ECHL All Star Game

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots are proud to announce that Ice Pilots Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Dave Farrish has been selected to coach the American Conference in the Coors Light/ECHL All-Star game to be played on Wednesday, January 26th at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania at 7:05 p.m. eastern time.
Farrish, who is in his first year coaching the Ice Pilots, earned the right by having the best winning percentage .661 in the American Conference. The Ice Pilots are currently tied for first place in the South Division with a record of 17-8-3 for 37 points. This is the second time that Farrish will coach in the ECHL All-Star game as he was a representative during the 2001-2002 season.
Before joining the Ice Pilots, Farrish was recently! the head coach of the Louisiana IceGators of the ECHL for the last four seasons coaching the IceGators to four division titles including a record of 48-22-2 for 98 points last year and coached the IceGators to an opening Kelly Cup Playoff series win 3 games to 2 vs. the Ice Pilots.
Farrish ended up with an overall record of 186-78-24 with the IceGators including a record of 15-19 in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. He was named the ECHL Coach of the Year following the 2001-2002 season as he coached the IceGators to ECHL records for points (106), wins (56), most home wins (30), most road wins (26), best points percentage (.806) and fewest home losses (2) in a season.
Farrish, who is 48 years old, currently has an all-time record of 486-394-103 in his 14th season as a professional coach, including three seasons with Springfield of the American Hockey League from 1997-2000, compiling a 113-96-31 record. He began his coaching career in the AHL with Moncton in 1989-90 and has also c! oached in the International Hockey League with Salt Lake and Fort Wayn e.
Farrish, whose teams have qualified for the postseason in 10 out of his 13 seasons, also served as an assistant coach with New Jersey of the National Hockey League in 1992-93. Selected by the New York Rangers in the second round (24th overall) in the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft and in the first round (fifth overall) by the San Diego Marineers in the 1976 World Hockey Association Draft, Farrish played 14 professional seasons from 1976-89.
As a defenseman, Farrish played 430 games in the NHL over seven seasons including as a member of the New York Rangers team that advanced to the 1979 Stanley Cup Finals. He is a native of Wingham, Ontario. Farrish and his wife, Roxanne reside in Pensacola, Florida.
The Ice Pilots will play home tonight vs. the Reading Royals at 7:05 p.m. It is College Night. College students who show their ID at the Civic Center box office will receive $5 off a $10 ticket to the game. A post game autograph session will take place with the team.
The Ice Pilots will also play home this Friday and Saturday night vs. Louisiana at 7:05 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to win two tickets to the game on Saturday with a promotion with Black Tie Bridal. Saturday night is Elvis Night. Fans are asked to dress up as Elvis as a contest will take place during the intermission with prizes to be given away. Also, the first 100 fans who bring $5 worth of non winning Florida Lottery tickets to the Civic Center box office will receive a ticket to the game.
