Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ (January 4, 2005) - The Trenton Titans and St. Francis Medical Center came together today to distribute items collected from the Fifth Annual Titans Teddy Bear Toss that took place at Sovereign Bank Arena on Friday, December 17, when Titans faced off against the Wheeling Nailers.
Fans were encouraged to bring their new or used teddy bears to toss onto the ice during the second intermission. A total of 812 teddy bears and stuffed animals were donated at the event. Titans' players and staff visited Crean Hall at St. Francis Medical Center and distributed the teddy bears to children in the Children's Futures, Angel's Wings and CARES programs at St. Francis.
St. Francis Medical Center, founded in 1874 by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, is an acute care teaching hospital that is home to regional areas of expertise including Fox Chase Cancer Center, Heart Hospital, Neuroscience Institute and an extensive community outreach program. Its mission is to provide the highest quality healthcare to the community, regardless of a patient's race, religion, or ability to pay.
Children's Futures is a program to ensure that all pregnant women and new parents living in the city of Trenton receive excellent healthcare and support for themselves and their infants.
Angel's Wings is an innovative, faith-based, volunteer-driven, non-profit organization that provides emergency care to displaced children, while fostering foster families in conjunction with the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) and Our Lady of Sorrows Church (OLS).
CARES is an acute care partial hospitalization program for children between the ages of 5 and 12 years who do no require inpatient care, but cannot be managed by outpatient care alone.
