Moore, Senators Power Past Curve, 6-2

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Tyler Moore homered twice and Harrisburg homered three times in the game to defeat the Curve, 6-2, in a matinee contest on Thursday at Metro Bank Park. Quincy Latimore hit his first two Double-A home runs in the loss for the Curve.

Mike Colla (1-1), who was making his first pro start and his first start in nearly three years, started out the game well as he retired the first 11 men he faced in the game without issue. Bill Rhinehart ended the streak with a solo home run in the fourth and Moore followed with his first home run of the game to make it, 2-0, Senators.

Colla finished out the fourth and all told gave up the two runs on just the two hits with four strikeouts and no walks. Matt McSwain, who was called up from High-A Bradenton on Wednesday, came in for his first career Double-A appearance in relief of Colla in the fifth and started out well, retiring the first six men he faced over two innings.

Latimore hit the first of his two home runs in the sixth to pull Altoona within one at, 2-1. McSwain then permitted a run in the seventh that ran Harrisburg's lead back up to two.

The Raleigh, N.C. native Latimore homered in the top of the eighth to pull the Curve back within one at 3-2 before the Senators took the four-run lead in the bottom half of the inning when they scored three runs, two on Moore's second home run of the game.

McSwain allowed four runs on four hits in four innings of work in his first Double-A outing. Brock Holt's 10-game hitting streak came to an end on Thursday as he went 0-for-4.

Altoona (9-10) returns home on Friday to open up a seven-game homestand beginning with the Erie SeaWolves, Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, at 6:30 p.m. at Blair County Ballpark. The first 1,000 fans through the gates at BCB will receive a Tenacious C Hanky Giveaway courtesy of Ravine Screen Printing and Embroidery. Those students participating in the Steamer's Student All-Stars program will also be recognized before the game with the SeaWolves. Gates open up at 5:30 p.m.

RHP Aaron Pribanic (1-0, 1.89) takes the ball for Altoona on Friday night while Mark Sorensen (1-0, 2.70) throws for Erie. Airtime on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network is scheduled for 6 p.m.
