Erie SeaWolves News Release

The SeaWolves were shut out for the first time this season on Thursday afternoon, 4-0 against the Reading Phillies at Jerry Uht Park.

Reading got on the board in the top of the first inning when Freddy Galvis led off with a solo home run off of Erie starter Jacob Turner for a 1-0 lead.

With one out in the second, Derrick Mitchell sent a shot off the wall in left-center. The ball hit the wall and squirted away from centerfielder Jamie Johnson, allowing Mitchell to circle the bases for an inside the park home run and a 2-0 Reading edge.

In the fifth, the R-Phils went ahead 3-0. Fidel Hernandez singled with one out and moved into scoring position on a Tim Kennelly base hit. With two outs, Jeremy Slaydon singled home Hernandesz for the third Phillies run.

Reading added a fourth run in the seventh when Galvis doubled home Hernandez, picking up his second RBI of the game.

The 'Wolves hitters were held in check by the Phillies. Starter Chris Kissock tossed seven shutout innings allowing three hits. Erie did not get a runner passed first base in the game and the club hit into a season-high four double plays.

Turner (0-1) allowed four runs on nine hits with a walk and four strikeouts in seven innings. The seven IP equaled a season high for the Erie righty.

The 'Wolves hit the road for seven games beginning on Friday night at Altoona.6:30 First Pitch.
