New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League announced this afternoon that 23-year-old RHP David Bromberg, the club's 2011 Opening Day starter, has been placed on the Disabled List with a broken right forearm. The Santa Monica, CA native suffered the injury while pitching on Tuesday night in Manchester, NH when he was struck by a 6th inning line drive off the bat of New Hampshire's Adeiny Hechavarria. The 6'5"/240-pound hurler was forced to immediately leave the game with New Britain leading, 1-0.

The promising Bromberg had just begun his second season at the Double-A classification in New Britain. A 32nd Round selection by the Minnesota Twins out of Santa Ana JC in 2005, Bromberg was 1-1 with a 3.63 ERA after his initial 22.1 innings of work in 2011. He was 5-5 / 3.62 for the Rock Cats in 2010; in 2009, he was named the Florida State League Pitcher of the Year.

The Rock Cats are not making an immediate move to fill the roster vacancy created by Mr. Bromberg's departure from Active status.
