PORTLAND, ME - Five Binghamton pitchers combined to allow 14 hits, including 5 home runs, which propelled Portland past the B-Mets 12-5 at windy Hadlock Field Thursday afternoon. The Sea Dogs, who lost the first game of the series, took the four-game set 3-1 with the win.

Binghamton (6-11) scored right out of the gate against starter Alex Wilson. Jordany Valdespin led off with a single. He took second on a stolen base and advanced to third when Oscar Tejeda mishandled catcher Ryan Lavarnway's throw. After Lorenzo Scott struck out, Josh Satin drove Valdespin home with a single to left.

Portland (8-9) responded quickly, however, and took the lead for good in the bottom of the frame against starter Robert Carson. Che-Hsuan Lin led off and reached on a dropped flyball by Carlos Guzman in right. An error on a pickoff throw moved Lin to second. Alex Hassan reached base next with a soft single to center, which moved the runner to third. Tim Federowicz evened the game with a sacrifice fly to center. After Ryan Lavarnway singled, Will Vazquez followed and put the Sea Dogs ahead with an RBI double down the third-base line. Will Middlebrooks capped the inning with a run-scoring groundout to first to make it 3-1.

After adding a single run in the third, the Sea Dogs put the game away with five-run fourth inning. Hassan and Lavarnway smashed two-run homers off Carson to knock the left-hander from the game. John Lujan relieved him and permitted the first three runners to reach and another run to score on an Oscar Tejeda RBI double, which pushed the lead to 9-1.

Carson was hung with his third loss of the season. The southpaw allowed eight runs - five earned - on seven hits and walked three over three-plus innings. Wilson earned his first career win over the B-Mets with five innings of one-run work. He was previously 0-4 in four starts against Binghamton.

Despite trailing 11-2 after six innings, the B-Mets showed some life in the seventh against the Sea Dogs bullpen. Scott reached with one out on a bloop double to left off reliever Eammon Portice. The right-hander grew wild and walked the next two hitters to load the bases. Eric Campbell brought a run in next with a clean single to center. Brahiam Maldonado added two more runs with a long single off the Maine Monster in left, which brought Binghamton within six, 11-5.

Mike Fisher led the B-Mets' 10-hit attack with a 2-for-3 afternoon. He has now hit in six straight games. Satin added two hits and an RBI.

The B-Mets have lost five of their last six games, but will aim for the win column when they return home to host Akron at 7:05 PM Friday night. LHP Kelvin De La Cruz (1-3, 3.00) will start for the Aeros against a yet-to-be-named starter for Binghamton. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show begins at 6:50 PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
