Frederick Keys News Release
FREDERICK, MD - On Tuesday night, the Baltimore Orioles announced that Frederick Keys Hitting Coach, Kyle Moore, will become the manager for the Short-Season Aberdeen IronBirds. Moore takes over for Kevin Bradshaw who was supposed to manage the team but suffered a season-ending injury.
Moore, 31, gets an opportunity to manage for the first time after serving as the Keys Hitting Coach since the start of the 2017 season. Originally signed by Baltimore as a free agent out of the University of Alabama in 2010, the Alabama native played two seasons with Aberdeen, the Low-A Delmarva Shorebirds and the Keys before becoming the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Delmarva in 2012.
Moore transitioned to the coaching ranks in 2013, serving as a coach with Frederick, the Double-A Bowie Baysox and Delmarva through the 2015 season. In 2016, he was named the Shorebirds Hitting Coach.
As the Keys Hitting Coach in 2017, Moore oversaw an offense that led the circuit in hitting while mentoring league MVP Ademar Rifaela, batting champion Ryan Mountcastle as well as Austin Hays who soared from Frederick to Baltimore.
Kyle and his wife Whitney live in Sarasota, FL. The Keys are expected to use a committee of hitting coaches to finish out the 2018 season.
Frederick plays the middle game of its three-game series against the Potomac Nationals on Wednesday night at Northwest Federal Field at Pfitzner Stadium. Left-hander Alex Wells (3-3, 3.69) starts for the Keys and will be opposed by Nationals left-hander Matthew Crownover (2-4, 6.29). First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m and the broadcast can be heard on frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn radio app.
The Keys return to Nymeo Field on Monday, June 11 when the Lynchburg Hillcats and Down East Wood Ducks come to town for the final first half homestand. Highlights include two shows of the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo, Father's Day and a pair of fireworks shows. For tickets fans can call the Keys at 301-815-9939 or visit frederickkeys.com.
The Frederick Keys are the Advanced-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and play their home games at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium. In 2017, the Keys received the Esurance Home Field Advantage Award for Carolina League for the second straight season, after leading the circuit in highest percentage of attendance based on ballpark capacity. The club will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2018. For more information about the Frederick Keys please contact Geoff Arnold by phone at (301)-815-9915 or by emailing at GArnold@FrederickKeys.com.
