The Chicago Cubs have announced the following roster moves affecting the Myrtle Beach Pelicans:

-LHP Jordan Minch has been assigned to Double-A Tennessee from Myrtle Beach.

-RHP Matt Swarmer has been assigned to Double-A Tennessee from Myrtle Beach.

-LHP Jose Paulino has been activated from the seven-day disabled list.

-RHP Cory Abbott has been assigned to Myrtle Beach from Low-A South Bend. He will wear No. 29.

Minch was in his third stint with Myrtle Beach. In 2018, he pitched in 18 games, going 3-1 with a 3.65 ERA. The Highland, Ind., native struck out 28 against 13 walks in 24.2 innings, yielding only 19 hits. After a slow start, Minch surrendered just four earned runs in 15 appearances dating back to April 13 (23.0 IP, 13 H, 8 R, 4 ER, 8 BB, 29 K, 1.57 ERA, 11.3 K/9). He pitched to a 6.38 ERA in 29 games last season while dealing with injuries. In 2016, Minch posted a 2.88 ERA in 34.1 innings over 29 games to help the Pelicans win the Mills Cup Championship. He was originally drafted in the 35th round of the 2014 draft out of Purdue University.

Swarmer has enjoyed a breakout season with the Pelicans. He ranks second in the Carolina League in WHIP (0.974), fourth in strikeouts (59) and fifth in ERA (2.28). Among the circuit's starters, the Mohnton, Pa., native has posted the best walk rate (1.2 BB/9) and the third-best strikeout rate (10.3). Overall, he is 5-2 and has only allowed 43 hits and seven walks in 51.1 innings. A 19th-round pick by the Cubs in 2016 out of Kutztown University (Pa.), Swarmer pitched with Short Season Class A Eugene, Low-A South Bend, Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa in 2017.

Paulino has struggled this season for Myrtle Beach, going 0-6, 9.85 ERA in seven starts. Last year with Low-A South Bend, he also got off to a slow start, posting a 3.45 ERA in the second half of the season compared to a 6.04 mark in the first half. Overall with South Bend, Paulino posted a 7-6 record and 4.51 ERA, yielding 125 hits in 123.2 innings. He struck out 94 and walked 42. A native of San Cristobal in the Dominican Republic, Paulino was originally signed by the Cubs on July 20, 2011.

Abbott has pitched well with Low-A South Bend in 2018, going 4-1 with a 2.47 ERA in nine starts. Over 47.1 innings, he has ceded just 35 hits and whiffed 57 against 13 walks. A second-round pick by the Cubs in 2017 out of Loyola Marymount University (Calif.), Abbott pitched with Short Season Class A Eugene last season. He totaled 14.0 innings in five starts, punching out 18 against three walks and 14 hits allowed. At Loyola Marymount, Abbott was named a First Team All-American and the WCC Pitcher of the Year as a junior in 2017. He tossed the first perfect game in LMU history on March 25, 2017 against BYU (13 strikeouts, 106 pitches, four three-ball counts).

The Pelicans' roster sits at 25 active players, with four players on the disabled list.
