
Montreal Recalls Doug Janik From Bulldogs

MONTREAL, QC - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that defenceman Doug Janik has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL to the Canadiens while goaltender Marc Denis has been assigned to Hamilton from Montreal and goaltender Loic Lacasse has been reassigned to the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL from the Bulldogs.
Janik, 29, has played in 17 games with Hamilton this season earning five assists along with 10 penalty minutes. Before joining the Bulldogs, the 6-foot-2, 211-pound defenceman played in 13 games with the Dallas Stars in 2008-2009, registering one assist and two penalty minutes. The native of Agawam, Massachusetts also played in four games for the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL this year posting two assists and four penalty minutes. Janik was drafted in the 2nd round, 55th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
Denis, 31, has a record of 25-18-0 in 44 games with the Bulldogs this season along with a 2.48 goals-against average, a .920 save percentage and five shutouts. The 6-foot, 190-pound goaltender played 20 minutes with Montreal on January 2nd, 2009 making six saves on seven shots. The native of Montreal, Quebec was the Colorado Avalanche's 1st round, 25th overall selection in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
Lacasse, 22, played in eight games with the Bulldogs this season earning a 6-1-0 record with a 2.07 goals against average and .922 save percentage. The native of Granby, Quebec recorded his first-career AHL shutout on January 9th, 2009 making 22 saves in a 3-0 win over the Lake Erie Monsters before recording his second shutout on January 16th, 2009 making 28 saves in a 4-0 win also over the Monsters. Montreal's 6th round, 181st selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft has played in 21 games for the Cyclones this season and has a record of 11-6-1 while posting a 2.71 GAA and a .899 save percentage.
The Hamilton Bulldogs host their final home game of the 2008-2009 regular season on Wednesday, April 8th when they welcome the Manitoba Moose to Copps Coliseum for a 7:30 p.m. game.
