Last Week's Games

Wednesday, April 1st - Milwaukee Admirals 1 at Quad City Flames 3

The Flames earned two critical playoff points in a 3-1 victory over Milwaukee on Wednesday night at the i wireless Center. Cam Cunning, Carsen Germyn and Kris Chucko scored for Quad City in the win. Leland Irving established a new franchise record for goaltender wins with the victory, his 21st of the season. The Flames took a 1-0 lead on the first period's only goal. Cam Cunning scored on the rebound after doggedly following an Anders Eriksson point shot that was knocked away by Milwaukee's Mark Dekanich. After several swats at the biscuit, Cunning recovered the bouncing puck and beat Dekanich for his sixth goal of the year and his third tally in the last four games. In the second period, the Flames extended their lead when Carsen Germyn powered home a slot shot during a Quad City power play. David Van der Gulik and Anders Eriksson earned assists on the goal as the Flames held a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes. The Admirals made the third period interesting when they pulled to within a single goal of the Flames. Ian MacKenzie recorded the tally during a delayed penalty to decrease the margin to 2-1. The Flames bottled up the Admirals for the remainder of the period before Kris Chucko scored into an empty net with one minute left to insure the win.

Friday, April 3rd - Chicago Wolves 1 at Quad City Flames 2

The Flames earned a 2-1 win over Chicago on Friday night to remain in the mix for a spot in the AHL post-season. Kyle Greentree scored twice in the win while Leland Irving turned aside 33 shots for his 22nd win of the season. Kyle Greentree scored the only goal of the first period when he snapped a shot past Chicago Ondrej Pavelec from the right wing circle. The marker was Greentree's 37th of the year, good for first on the Flames All-Time Goal Scoring List. The Flames held their 1-0 lead through the opening 20 minutes as Leland Irving stopped all seven shots he saw in the opening frame. The teams traded second period goals as Kyle Greentree scored for Quad City and Matt Anderson responded for the Wolves. Greentree scored when he deflected a shot off Pavelec and into the Wolves net. It was Greentree's franchise record tying 19th power-play goal of the season. Anderson scored for the Wolves at 15:55 of the middle frame when he barreled over Leland Irving and accompanied the puck into the Quad City net. The late second period tally set the Flames lead at 2-1 after 40 minutes. The Flames penalty kill took control in the third as they stopped three Chicago power plays. Irving was also spectacular as he stopped 13 shots in the closing frame to set the final at 2-1 in favor of Quad City.

Saturday, April 4th - Peoria Rivermen 2 at Quad City Flames 1

The Peoria Rivermen dealt the Flames' playoff hopes a serious blow on Saturday night with a 2-1 win at the i wireless Center. With the loss, the Flames will not require wins in each of their three remaining games couple with trios of losses by Rockford and Houston to qualify for the playoffs. Anders Eriksson netted the lone Quad City goal in the defeat. The Rivermen scored twice in the opening twenty minutes. Jim Jackson netted a goal off a 2-on-1 break at 9:02 of the opening frame. Yan Stastny snapped home a shot from the bottom of the right wing circle at 12:39 of the opening period to give the Rivermen a 2-0 edge through the opening period. In the second frame, Manny Legace turned aside 14 Quad City shots to hold the Flames scoreless. Leland Irving responded by stopping all nine shots he saw to keep the Flames within two goals after two periods. Anderson Eriksson put the Flames on the board at 7:12 of the third period on the power play. Eriksson's point shot was tipped off a Rivermen defenseman and into the Peoria net to slice the Rivermen advantage to a single goal. The Flames could pull no closer despite outshooting Peoria 12-2 in the closing frame.
