WEEK IN REVIEW

The Aeros took just two points from four games last week with a record of 1-3-0 but moved within one point of punching their ticket to the 2009 Calder Cup Playoffs. The four games marked the last half of a stretch in which the team played eight contests in 11 nights. Three of the games last week were on the road including the lone win in Iowa.

The Houston Aeros dropped a 3-0 decision to the Lake Erie Monsters Saturday night keeping the team ranked fourth in the West Division. Lake Erie held a 1-0 lead entering the third period but netted two quick goals to keep the Aeros at bay and from clinching a playoff spot over the weekend.

The Houston Aeros fell 3-1 in Peoria as the Rivermen took sole possession of second place in the West Division Friday night. The loss, coupled with a Rockford win, slipped the Aeros into fourth place but tied in points with the IceHogs. The Aeros started Rejean Beauchemin in net for his first contest with Houston stopping 16 of 19 shots in the loss.

The Houston Aeros tied the game twice but couldn't take the extra step to pass the Iowa Chops as the West Division foe took a 5-3 win Thursday night at Toyota Center. Houston remained tied with Peoria at 84 points but slipped behind them based on number of wins - the first tiebreaker.

The Houston Aeros regained sole possession of second place in the West Division with a 6-2 win over the Iowa Chops Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Houston scored five special-teams goals including three shorthanded goals for their 37th win of the season. Six different Aeros scored, including Corey Locke's (pictured above) two points, and Anton Khudobin stopped 14 of 15 shots for his second win of the season.
