Atlanta Sends For Wilson

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled defenseman CLAY WILSON from the Chicago Wolves.

WILSON, who was acquired by the Thrashers on Jan. 14, appeared in five National Hockey League games with the Columbus Blue Jackets earlier this season, collecting one assist. He has also skated in 68 American Hockey League outings this year, which includes 35 matchups with the Wolves.

The 26-year-old blueliner has tallied 19 assists and 24 points with Chicago, and shares third among AHL defensemen with 13 goals and is tied for seventh among league rear guards with 44 points, 20 of which (8G, 12A) were collected in 33 outings with the Syracuse Crunch. He shares first on the Wolves with 31 assists, while his 44 points hold third on the squad.

The Sturgeon Lake, Minn., native, made his NHL debut in seven matchups with Columbus last season, recording two points (G, A) and two penalty minutes. He also picked up 28 assists and 39 points in 57 tilts with the Crunch and eight points (3G, 5A) in 14 contests with the Portland Pirates during his third AHL campaign last year.

Overall, WILSON has notched three points (G, 2A) in 12 career NHL matchups with Columbus (2007 to 2008) and 46 goals, 125 assists, 171 points and 143 penalty minutes in 278 AHL contests with the Grand Rapids Griffins, Pirates, Crunch and Wolves spanning four seasons (2005 to present.)

WILSON will be available to make his Thrashers debut when they host the Washington Capitals at Philips Arena tomorrow at 6 p.m.
