
Flames Player Awards Set For Friday

Moline, IL- The Quad City Flames will be presenting player awards prior to Friday night's game vs. the Iowa Chops. The pre-game ceremony will recognize the accomplishments of Flames players in nine categories including the Fan Favorite Award, which is selected in an on-line poll of Flames fans.
To participate in the Fan Favorite Award voting, fans can head to qcflames.com. Other awards that will be presented on Friday include: Team MVP, Star Award, Leading Scorer, Media Award, Top Defenseman, Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Player and the Jim Kohley Memorial Award.
The Jim Kohley Memorial Award is selected by the Quad City branch of the American Hockey League Off-Ice Officials. It is awarded to the player that brings the qualities of hard work and dedication to the ice that Jim Kohley brought to his position as an off-ice official. The Media Award is given to the player that is determined to be most cooperative with local media and is selected by the team's beat writers. The Star Award recognizes the player that appeared most often in the team's three star ceremonies. The Leading Scorer Award is given to the player that scores the most points during the regular season. The remaining four awards are selected by the Quad City Flames organization.

Jim Kohley Memorial Award - Derek Couture
Team MVP Award - Grant Stevenson
Top Defenseman Award - Tim Hambly
Rookie of the Year Award - Matt Keetley
Most Improved Player Award - Matt Pelech
Media Award - Carsen Germyn
Leading Scorer Award - Grant Stevenson
Star Award - Grant Stevenson
In addition to Friday night's award ceremony, the team will also be auctioning off the 2008-09 Quad City Flames road jerseys. The silent auction will be held during Friday's game. The jerseys will be worn during Saturday night's game in Des Moines, then available for pick-up from the Flames office during the following week.
The Flames visit Bleacher Bums in Davenport tonight for the final regular season edition of The Budweiser Flames Forum. The show begins at 6:00 p.m. Ryan McGill, Peter Vandermeer, John Vigilante and Brett Sutter will be tonight's guests. The show can be heard on 93.9 FM WYEC.
On Wednesday night, the Flames play their penultimate regular season home game vs. the Rockford IceHogs. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Flames host Iowa on Friday at 7:05 p.m. for their regular season home finale. The 2008-09 Player Awards will be handed out prior to face-off.
