ROSEMONT, IL - In the third of eight meetings between the two teams this season, Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters were defeated by the Chicago Wolves on Sunday at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL by a final score of 5-2. With the loss, the Monsters fell to 17-12-2-2 overall this season and with a .576 points percentage, remain alone in fifth place in the AHL's Central Division standings.

The Wolves pounced to a 3-0 lead on Sunday thanks to three unanswered even-strength goals from Jordan Caron at 5:12 of the first period, Zach O-Brien at 15:19 of the opening frame and the first of two Jordan Schmaltz goals at 8:59 of the middle stanza. The Monsters responded with a Josh Anderson goal at 18:35 of the second, an even-strength tally assisted by T.J. Tynan and Jaime Sifers.

In the third, Chicago extended their lead to 4-1 with an even-strength Schmaltz tally at 6:54 before Chris Butler buried a power-play marker at 9:45 to make it 5-1 Wolves. Lake Erie capped Sunday's scoring with a Joe Devin extra-man goal at 12:22, set up by Kerby Rychel and Michael Chaput, that established Chicago's final margin of victory at 5-2.

Monsters goaltender Joonas Korpisalo recorded the loss on Sunday despite 22 saves while Chicago's Jordan Binnington made 35 stops in victory for the Wolves.
