@ Providence (10/14): Knotting a season-high seven goals, the Manchester Monarchs catapulted past the Providence Bruins in a 7-1 victory at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday night. Monarchs left wing Richard Clune (two), left wing David Meckler, center Justin Azevedo (two), defenseman Slava Voynov and left wing David Kolomatis (1-2=3) also lit the lamp for the Monarchs. Center Josh Hennessy scored the lone goal for the Bruins. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones earned his second win of the season by stopping 29-of-30 shots. Bruins netminder Anton Khudobin picked up his third loss of the season making 20 saves on 25 shots. Bruins goaltender Karel St. Laurent stopped 12-of-14 shots that he faced in relief of Khudobin. Manchester went 1-for-2 on the power play in the victory. Providence was 1-for-7 with the man advantage.
@ Portland (10/15): Goaltender Martin Jones backstopped the Manchester Monarchs past the Portland Pirates in a 5-1 victory at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Saturday night. Left wing David Meckler, center Andrei Loktionov, defenseman Jake Muzzin, left wing Ray Kaunisto and right wing Brandon Kozun scored a goal each for the Monarchs. Center Colin Long tallied a goal in the loss for Portland. Jones (3-1-0) earned his third victory and second road-win of the season stopping 32-of-33 shots. Pirates goaltender Curtis McElhinney (1-1-0) picked up his first loss of the season making 28 saves on 33 shots. Manchester went 0-for-4 on the power play. Portland was 0-for-8 with the man advantage.
@ Springfi eld (10/16): Goaltender Danny Taylor halted 38-of-41 shots against his former team as he backstopped the Springfi eld Falcons to a 5-3 victory over the Manchester Monarchs at the MassMutual Center on Sunday afternoon. Defenseman Jake Muzzin and center Andrei Loktionov (two) were the goal scorers for the Monarchs. The Falcons tallied goals from defenseman Dalton Prout, left wing Dane Byers, center Martin St. Pierre and center Ryan Russell (two). Monarchs goaltender Jeff Zatkoff (0-1-0) picked up his first loss of the season stopping 22-of-27 shots. Taylor (1-0-0) picked up his first victory of the season making 38 saves on 41 shots. Manchester went 2-for-7 on the power play. Springfield finished 1-for-6 on the man advantage.

The Manchester Monarchs (3-2-0-0) are tied for first place in the Atlantic Division with the St. John's IceCaps (3-1-0-0) with six points each. The Worcester Sharks (2-0-0-0) and the Providence Bruins (2-3-0-0) are tied for third place in the dividsion with four points each. The Portland Pirates (1-1-0-1) sit in fifth place in the division with three points.
The Monarchs own a 2-1-0-0 record overall on the road this season and are 1-1-0-0 at home. Manchester has played three games of a six-game road trip going 2-1-0-0 and have scored 15 goals in those three road games this season. Manchester's seven goals scored at Providence on Friday marked a season high. The Monarchs scored two power play goals in Sunday's loss to Springfield. It marked the first time the Monarchs scored two power play
goals in a game this season.
Monarchs center Andrei Loktionov (3-3=6) has a three-game point streak after three games this weekend. Loktionov's eight points this season rank second in the AHL. Manchester's left wing David Meckler and Loktionov scored 46 seconds apart in the first period Saturday night in Portland; the fastest
two goals of the season for the Monarchs.
The Monarchs had four players with multiple points on Friday night at Providence: left wing Richard Clune (2-1=3), defenseman David Kolomatis (1-2=3), center Justin Azevedo (2-0=2) and right wing Linden Vey (0-2=2). Vey's two assists on Friday marked his first professional points. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones has surrendered only five goals in four starts this season. Of goaltenders with at least two starts in the AHL this season, Jones is tied for first in save percentage (.956), fourth in goals-against-average (1.26) and ranks third with 108 saves. Clune registered a Gordie Howe Hat Trick in Manchester's 7-1 win over Providence on Friday night. In Sunday's loss to the Falcons, Clune collected 17 penalty minutes to move up to fourth all-time for the most penalty minutes in a Monarchs uniform with 476, passing Kip Brennan's 470.

Monarchs goaltender Jeff Zatkoff made his first start of the season, recording the loss in Sunday's games against the Falcons.
Monarchs defenseman Slava Voynov made his 2011-12 season debut with the Monarchs on Friday night after traveling with the Los Angeles Kings to start the season in Europe. He was recalled to the Kings on Sunday, October 16, 2011.

Canadian Heritage Night - The Monarchs will be celebrating the strong local ties with Canadian and Franco-American Heritage on October 29, 2011. The Monarchs will don a special Canadian-themed jersey for the occassion with the Monarchs Care Foundation auctioning off the unique jerseys at the game. Traditional Canadian and Franco-American foods such as poutine and Montreal smoked meat will be served to fans who attend the game. One of the Montreal Canadiens Public Address Announcers, Sebastian Goulet, will announce the game in French and English.
10/16/11 - The Los Angeles Kings (NHL) recalled defenseman Slava Voynov from Manchester. 10/16/11 - The Manchester Monarchs (AHL) signed right wing Rob Mignardi to an amateur tryout agreement. 10/12/11 - The Los Angeles Kings (NHL) acquired right wing Stefan Legein and a sixth-round pick from the Philadelphia Flyers (NHL) for future considerations and assigned Legein to the Manchester Monarchs (AHL). 10/10/11 - The Los Angeles Kings (NHL) assigned goaltender Jeff Zatkoff to the Manchester Monarchs (AHL).
