Lacroix, Mitchell Join Bears from South Carolina

HERSHEY, Pa. - The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that left wing Maxime Lacroix has been recalled from South Carolina (ECHL), and that the Washington Capitals have reassigned right wing Garrett Mitchell from South Carolina to HERSHEY. The announcements were made by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

Lacroix, 24, was instrumental in the Stingrays' season-opening victory over Reading on Friday night. The Quebec native registered three assists in the game, including a game-winning overtime helper with two seconds remaining.

The 6-0, 180-lb. Lacroix recorded 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in 57 games with HERSHEY in 2010-11, adding 10 points in 13 games in South Carolina. He was originally selected by Washington in the fifth round (127th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Mitchell, 20, appeared in both of the Stingrays' games to date, and has recorded seven penalty minutes. Prior to joining HERSHEY for two games in 2010-11, the 5-11, 195-lb. Native of Regina, SK completed his fourth full season with his hometown Regina Pats (WHL). Mitchell finished second on the team in scoring with 52 points (18 goals, 34 assists) in 70 games. He also tied for the Pats' lead with 140 penalty minutes.

Mitchell was originally selected by Washington in the sixth round (175th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The BEARS will travel to upstate New York to battle the Albany Devils on Friday, October 21 at 7:00 PM. The team returns to Giant Center to take on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday, October 22 at 7:00 PM.
