
Delmas and Malka Assigned to ECHL's Wheeling Nailers

MONTREAL, QC - Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Pierre Gauthier announced today that goaltender Peter Delmas and defenceman Olivier Malka have been assigned to the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers.
Delmas, 21, who signed a three-year, two-way American Hockey League / National Hockey League contract with the Montreal Canadiens on July 5th, 2011, was assigned to Hamilton on September 26th but has not played in any pre-season or regular season games for the Bulldogs in 2011-2012. Last season, the Bedford, Nova Scotia native played in two games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, posting a 1-0-1 record, a 1.92 goals against average and a .933 save percentage and in 24 games with the Wheeling Nailers, recording 15 wins, 6 losses and 2 overtime losses, a 2.03 goals against average and a .928 save percentage.
In the ECHL's 2011 Kelly Cup Playoffs, Delmas posted an 8-5-1 record, a 3.13 goals against average and a .903 save percentage playing in 15 of Wheeling's 17 post-season games before the Wheelers were eliminated in six games by the Kalamazoo Wings in the Eastern Conference Finals. The 6'2=1B$B!G!G=1B(B, 190-pound goaltender finished the playoffs ranked second in the league in playoff games (15) and saves (391), and third in wins (8).
The left-handed-catching netminder played in 149 career regular season games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) between 2006 and 2010 with Lewiston MAINEiacs, Quebec Remparts and Halifax Mooseheads.
Malka, 21, signed a one-year, two-way AHL / ECHL contract with Hamilton on September 27th, 2011. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Malka made his professional debut with the Bulldogs in the team's 5-2 season-opening victory over the Rochester Americans on Saturday, October 8th, posting two shots on goal and an even plus / minus rating.
In 2010-2011, his third season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Lewiston MAINEiacs, the 5-foot-10, 178-pound defenceman played in 64 games, posting 55 points (16 goals, 39 assists) while leading the team in penalty minutes with 116. In 176 games in the QMJHL, Malka registered 104 points (30 goals, 74 assists) and 292 penalty minutes.
The Bulldogs' next game is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, October 18th at 7:30 p.m. when they'll take on the Grand Rapids Griffins at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario.
The Nailers' next contest will take place on Saturday, October 22nd at 7:35 p.m. when they'll meet the Elmira Jackals at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia.
