LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS
At Albany (10/19): The Manchester Monarchs fell to the Albany River Rats for the first time in 14 games dating back to an overtime loss on December 6, 2002, with a 5-2 loss at the Times Union Center on Friday night. The Monarchs tried to battle back from a three-goal deficit with tallies from center Gabe Gauthier and defenseman Troy Milam but the River Rats continued to strike. Albany collected goals from left wing Ryan Bayda, center Dave Gove, left wing Brandon Nolan, right wing Jerome Samson and center Bobby Hughes. Monarchs goaltender Dan Cloutier stopped 11 shots in the first period before being replaced by netminder Erik Ersberg who made 15 saves on 17 shots. River Rats goaltender Kevin Nastiuk earned the win with 27 saves. Manchester went 1-for-4 on the power play. Albany was 1-for-5 with the man advantage.
At Portland (10/20): The Manchester Monarchs battled back to earn one point in their 4-3 shootout loss to the Portland Pirates at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Saturday night. Pirates' center Matt Keith was the lone marksman to score in the shootout for either team. The Monarchs collected two goals from left wing Matt Moulson and defenseman Brian Boyle added his first tally of the season. Center Andrew Ebbett, defenseman Brian Salcido and center Jason King scored for Portland in regulation. Monarchs goaltender Erik Ersberg made 22 saves on 25 shots. Pirates netminder Mike McKenna stopped 34 shots. Manchester went 1-for-4 on the power play. Portland was 3-for-6 with the man advantage.

The Monarchs (2-2-1-1) are tied for fourth place in the Atlantic Division with the Portland Pirates (3-4-0-0). Each team has six points.
The Monarchs power play is ranked ninth in the AHL and the penalty kill is in 27th place.

Center Gabe Gauthier leads the Monarchs in scoring with 11 points (3-8=11) in six games.
Gauthier is on a six-game point streak as he has tallied at least one point in every game this season.
The second-year center has also registered eight assists in his last five games.
Gauthier's 11 points also lead the AHL in overall scoring.
Gauthier and rookie right wing Teddy Purcell each have eight assists which lead the AHL in that category.
Young Gun Purcell is ranked second on the Monarchs squad with 10 points (2-8=10).
Purcell has scored nine of his 10 points in the last four games.
The right wing is on a four-game assist streak, collecting seven assists in his last four games.
Purcell's 10 points are tied for second place overall in the AHL and ranked first among rookies in the AHL.
Left wing Matt Moulson, Monarchs 2006-07 leading scorer, leads the Monarchs in goal-scoring with five goals in six games.
Moulson ranks third on the Monarchs squad with eight points (5-3=8).
The second year winger's five goals are tied for second in the AHL for goal scoring.
Defenseman Peter Harrold leads Monarchs blue-liners with five assists in five games.
Four of Harrold's five assists have come on the power play which ties him for third in the AHL for power play assists.
MONARCHS TRANSACTIONS
10/15/07: The Los Angeles Kings (NHL) assigned center Brady Murray to the Manchester Monarchs (AHL).

Boyle And Petiot To Visit St. Francis of Assisi - Monarchs defensemen Brian Boyle and Richard Petiot will visit St. Francis of Assisi on Wednesday, October 24 to speak to the students from 1-2 p.m.
Monarchs Players And Coaches To Assist In Extreme Makeover Home Edition - The Monarchs coaching staff and players will assist in Extreme Makeover Home Edition's Manchester project on Wednesday, October 24 as it will be time to help move in furniture. The Monarchs will also be part of a press conference with the popular television show on Friday, October 26 starting at 11 a.m.
Teaming Up For Warmth Coat Drive - The Monarchs are teaming up with E&R Cleaners and asking fans to donate unwanted coats for families in need at the Monarchs game on Saturday, October 27 when the team hosts the Portland Pirates. E&R Cleaners will clean the coats and deliver them to families for the winter.
