Rockford Picks Up Seven Of Eight Points During Week Three

A season opening nine-game road swing continues for the Rockford IceHogs and the club continues to excel on the road. Rockford picked up seven out of a possible eight standings points during a busy Week 3. The Hogs will complete its nine game stretch on the road during Week 4 with a pair of games in Manitoba and a contest agaisnt the defending champions in Hamilton.

Tuesday, Oct. 16: Rockford IceHogs 4 at San Antonio Rampage 2

Wednesday, Oct. 17: Rockford IceHogs 3 at Houston Aeros 2

Friday, Oct. 19: Rockford IceHogs 4 at Chicago Wolves 5 OT

Saturday, Oct. 20: Rockford IceHogs 5 at Grand Rapids Griffins 1

Bacon Bits:

The IceHogs are six games into a nine-game road swing and have posted a record of 4-1-1-0 thus far.

Goaltender Wade Flaherty picked up his 12th straight win on Saturday, making an IceHogs season-high 38 saves in Rockford's 5-1 win at Grand Rapids.

Defenseman Prestin Ryan has a five-game point streak, accumulating 3g-4a-7pts during his hot stretch.

Defenseman Dustin Byfuglien recorded a point in his first four games in an IceHogs uniform, totaling 1g-5a-6pts.

Ryan (7pts) and Byfuglien (6pts) are Rockford's top two point scorers through six games.

Winger Adam Berti scored a goal in his first shift of the season on Saturday night in Grand Rapids.

Center Jake Dowell scored the IceHogs first short-handed goal of the season on Friday night in Chicago.

Rockford has scored three power-play goals in a game in three of its first six contests.

Rockford leads the AHL in penalty minutes (227), minors (71) and major penalties (13).

The IceHogs have outshot its opponents only once in six games.

Through six games, nine different IceHogs skaters have picked up fighting majors.

Hot Hog Week 3:

Defenseman Dustin Byfuglien tallied points in all four games for the IceHogs during Week 3. After missing the IceHogs first two games due to injury, Byfuglien ranks second for Rockford with 1g-5a-6pts, all accumulated last week.

Upcoming Games:

Thursday, Oct. 25 at Manitoba Moose. Rockford's road show resumes at 7:30 p.m. The IceHogs and Moose meet up for the first four meetings, including back-to-back contests in Winnipeg. The game is Rockford's second against a North Division opponent.

Friday, Oct. 26 at Manitoba Moose. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. Rockford and Manitoba match-up for the second straight night in Manitoba. The game is Rockford's final regular season match-up in Winnipeg and the game can be heard on 104.9 FM, WXRX.

Sunday, Oct. 29 at Hamilton Bulldogs. The showdown with the defending Calder Cup Champs begins at 3 p.m. Rockford's final game on its franchise long nine-game road swing concludes at the Copps Coliseum against the Bulldogs.

Bud Light Hog Talk returns tonight at Cousin's Bar and Grill! Cousin's Bar and Grill is the site for the IceHogs weekly talk show that features Hogs Head Coach Mike Haviland. Also appearing on the show this week include Hogs goalie Corey Crawford and defenseman Cam Barker. The show runs from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and is hosted by Jim Stone and Double T. Bud Light Hog Talk returns to the airwaves as well, as fans can tune in live to 1330-AM, WNTA to catch the show.
