Adirondack Phantoms News Release
UPCOMING OPPONENTS
Friday, October 26 and Sunday, October 28- Phantoms vs. Norfolk Admirals, 7:15 and 5:05: The Phantoms and Admirals (Tampa Bay Lightning) play a bit of a home-and-home series this weekend, only there's another game sandwiched in between for each club. The Admirals are 2-4 through their first four games. In the season opener against the Admirals, the Phantoms came away with a 4-3 victory. Darren Reid of the Phantoms and Kyle Wanvig of the Admirals scored two goals each during that game.
Saturday, October 27- Phantoms vs. Springfield Falcons, 7:05: It's the only visit of the season for the Falcons (Edmonton Oilers) to the Wachovia Spectrum and the first of just two meetings between the teams. Heading into this week, Springfield and Philadelphia are the top two teams in the AHL. Springfield is in the top spot with a record of 5-2-0-1 for 11 points, one ahead of the Phantoms. Colin Fraser and David Bolland each have posted four goals and one assist this season for five points apiece. The Phantoms were victorious in their only two meetings against the Falcons during the 2006-07 season.
GET IN SHAPE WITH THE PHANTOMS
Phantoms fans are invited to attend the first Philadelphia Sports Extravaganza and Wellness Expo this Saturday when the Phantoms host the Springfield Falcons. Bring the entire family for a day packed with highly interactive events that include medical and fitness screenings by local doctors and experts. Tickets are only $10 per person and include the Expo, the block party, and the Phantoms game. All season ticket holders from the Flyers and Phantoms get free entry to the Expo.
AN EARLY JUMP ON HALLOWEEN
On Sunday, kids can take a practice run for Halloween at the Phantoms game! Fans are encouraged to wear costumes to the game and will be able to go trick-or-treating on the Spectrum concourse. At intermission, there will be a costume parade on the ice with Phlex!
GREENTREE NOMINATED FOR PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The Phantoms nominated Kyle Greentree for RBK/AHL Player of the Week honors this week. In Philadelphia's lone contest last week, a 6-3 loss to Providence, Greentree figured in all three Philadelphia goals, scoring one and assisting on two others. He earned the game's third star.
PHANTOMS TO VISIT CHOP THIS WEEK
On Wednesday, the Phantoms will make a team visit to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to greet patients there. As part of the visit, the Phantoms will be donating three children's wagons to the facility. Wagons are routinely used at CHOP to transport children, and the three wagons coming from the team have been "wrapped" with Phantoms logos.
JERSEY AUCTION RESULTS
The 1967-68 throwback jerseys that the Phantoms wore on Saturday were auctioned off following the game. The jersey auction brought in $26,700, with a portion of the proceeds going to Phantoms Charities. The top seller was Brian Boucher's jersey, which went for $2,200.
PHANTOMS NOTABLES
Jonathan Matsumoto's season-opening five-game point streak was snapped on Saturday... In a first period fight on Saturday, Triston Grant sustained a cut over his right eye, and blood on his customary #12 jersey forced him to wear #24 in the second period while the jersey was washed. Grant returned to #12 in the third period. It's the second time in the last two seasons Grant has had to switch numbers during a game - last year, his #12 ripped down the front in a fight, and he completed the game in #25... the Phantoms play just their second road game of the season on Friday when they travel to Norfolk. The trip is also the first of the season requiring an overnight stay.
TOYOTA CUP STANDINGS
Through the first five games of the season, Brian Boucher leads the annual race for the Toyota Cup. Players are awarded points each time they are chosen as a star of the game, with five points given for a first star, three points for a second star and one point for a third star. The player with the most points at the end of the season will win a monetary donation to the charity of his choice courtesy of Toyota.
