Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - The Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Manchester Monarchs, have partnered with St. Mary's Bank to Put Hunger On Ice, Monarchs Vice President of Public Affairs Cheryl Abbott announced today.

The Monarchs and St. Mary's Bank have organized two food drives to benefit the New Hampshire Food Bank. St. Mary's Bank has encouraged all employees and bank customers at all branch locations to bring items to donate for their food drive April 2-7. Two Monarchs players will be at the St. Mary's Bank on McGregor Street in Manchester on Thursday, April 5 to greet guests and collect food from 4-5:30 p.m.

Those items collected at St. Mary's Bank will be added to the Monarchs Put Hunger On Ice food drive to be held at their game on Saturday, April 7 when the Monarchs take on the Portland Pirates at 2:05 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena. This is a tough time of year for shelters and food pantries. By winter's end many pantry shelves are empty and need to be restocked. Fans are encouraged to bring in a non-perishable food item such as canned tuna or chicken, canned pasta and stews, peanut butter, 100% juice boxes, canned fruits in light syrup, applesauce, canned vegetables, soups, healthy cereals, pasta, rice and dry beans.

In conjunction with the Put Hunger On Ice food drive, St. Mary's Bank will donate $100 per goal scored by the Monarchs at the Verizon Wireless Arena this season to the New Hampshire Food Bank. With four home games remaining on their schedule, the Monarchs have scored 99 goals in Manchester in turn giving the New Hampshire Food Bank $9,900.

St. Mary's Bank will present a check to the New Hampshire Food Bank at the Monarchs game on April 7.

The Monarchs take on the Worcester Sharks at the DCU Center on Wednesday, April 4 at 7:00 p.m. Catch all of the play-by-play action of Monarchs hockey with Ken Cail on the Monarchs Radio Network WGIR-AM 610 and at www.monarchshockey.com.
