Adirondack Phantoms News Release
UPCOMING OPPONENTS
Wednesday, April 4 - Phantoms vs. Bridgeport, 7:05: The Bridgeport Sound Tigers (New York Islanders) make their final visit of the season to the Wachovia Spectrum this Wednesday night. Bridgeport is currently locked in a fight with the Albany River Rats for the fourth and final playoff spot in the East Division - the two teams are tied at 74 points apiece, eight ahead of the Phantoms. The Sound Tigers created that tie with a Sunday afternoon win over Albany. Bridgeport has been without top goaltender Wade Dubielewicz since March 19, when he was recalled to the Islanders to replace injured netminder Rick DiPietro. Michael Mole has joined the club from ECHL Pensacola to fill the spot. In the last meeting between the clubs on March 18, the Phantoms came away with a 7-4 win.
Friday, April 6 - Phantoms vs. Hershey, 7:05: It's the latest installment in the Philadelphia/Hershey rivalry this Friday when the Bears (Washington Capitals) come to town on Faith and Family Night at the Wachovia Spectrum. Hershey has locked up a playoff spot and is jockeying back and forth with Norfolk in the race for the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy as the AHL regular season champion and the home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs that would go with it. In addition, the top seed will mean the difference between playing Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and the East Division's fourth-place team in the first round of the playoffs. The Phantoms have a 2-8 record against Hershey this season and fell in the last meeting between the teams on March 24 by a 3-2 count.
Saturday, April 7 - Phantoms at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, 7:05: It's the final meeting of the season between the Phantoms and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (Pittsburgh Penguins). The Phantoms are looking for a split of the season series after going 4-5 through the first nine games between the clubs. The Penguins start the week three points behind Norfolk and four behind Hershey in the regular season race, leaving themselves still very much in the running for the Kilpatrick Trophy and an easier road through the playoffs. The Pens have benefited from strong goaltending throughout the season, with Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers and Nolan Schaefer posting nearly identical goals-against averages in the 2.50 range.

SLANEY NOMINATED FOR PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The Phantoms nominated John Slaney for CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week honors this week. Slaney had points in all three games this week, registering two goals and one assist to go along with a plus-4 rating. It's part of a four-game scoring streak for the Phantoms captain.
PHANTOMS NOTABLES
Mark Cullen led all Phantoms in scoring in March with seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points. Cullen has at least a point in 13 of his last 16 games since returning on March 2 after missing 13 games with a broken hand. He saw his most recent scoring streak come to an end on Saturday at five games... With a win on Saturday at Binghamton, the Phantoms finished the season series with the Senators with a perfect 8-0 record... Left wing Darroll Powe scored his first professional goal in Saturday's win over Binghamton... Defenseman Nate Guenin registered his first NHL points with two assists in the Flyers' loss to the New York Rangers on Saturday... Riley Cote posted his first NHL fight on Friday at the New Jersey Devils, taking on Cam Janssen, a familiar foe in AHL tilts.
