MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have released defenseman Brendan Ellis from his professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced on Tuesday.

Ellis, 25, made his professional debut with the Monarchs against the Portland Pirates on Saturday, March 29. In one game with Manchester, Ellis collected zero points and a minus-2 rating. He appeared in three games with the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays and collected one assist and four penalty minutes before signing his agreement in Manchester. Ellis completed his final season at Merrimack College with 10 points (0-1010) and 38 penalty minutes in 24 games this season. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound native of Kelowna, British Columbia, recorded 58 points (7-5158) and 142 penalty minutes in 133 games with Merrimack College from 2010-14.
