Jets Re-Assign Eric Comrie & Josh Morrissey to IceCaps

The Winnipeg Jets today announced they re-assigned goaltender Eric Comrie and defenceman Josh Morrissey from their respective junior clubs to the St. John's IceCaps of the American Hockey League.

Comrie, 18, played in 60 games with the Tri-City Americans of the WHL this season. In that time, the Edmonton, AB native earned a 26-25-9 record, 2.57 goals against average and 0.925 save percentage. Comrie ranked second in the WHL for save percentage and saves (1,849). He was third in games played and minutes (3,523) and sixth in goals against average. He was named the VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month for January 2014, where he appeared in 11 games allowing just 15 goals on 393 shots. During the 2012-13 season, Comrie played with Team Canada and won a Gold Medal at the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament. He was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the second round, 59th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft.

Morrissey, 19, played in 59 games with the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL this season. In that time, the Calgary, AB native earned 73 points (28G, 45A) and 59 penalty minutes. Morrissey was selected as the Eastern Conference nominee for the 2014 WHL Defenceman of the Year Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy. He also set a franchise record for goals by a defenceman with 28 this season. During the 2012-13 season, Morrissey played with Team Canada and won a Gold Medal at both the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and the 2013 IIHF World U18 Championships. He was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the first round, 13th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft.
