Iowa Wild News Release
Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Wild announced Monday, the American Hockey League (AHL) club will participate in a charity Poker Tournament at Prairie Meadows on Monday, Apr. 14.
"We feel fortunate to have a great partner such as Prairie Meadows," said team President Todd Frederickson. "Our players are obviously very competitive by nature and we expect them to be fully invested. The fact that Prairie Meadows will make a charitable donation, if one of our players wins the tournament, makes this event even better. This is a great opportunity for our fans to go head to head with our players, testing their poker skills and attempting to take their jersey."
Up to nine players will participate in the charity tournament open to all fans 21 and older. Registration will begin on the day of the tournament at Prairie Meadows. Each Wild player will wear a replica of his own jersey during play and will hand over the jersey to any player that knocks him out of the tournament. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the tournament commences at 6 p.m., running until approximately 9 p.m. If one of the Wild players wins the tournament, Prairie Meadows will make a donation to a charity of the winner's choice.
"We are thrilled to partner with the Iowa Wild organization on this poker tournament," said Ann Atkin, Prairie Meadows Vice President of Operations. "Tournament players will have a unique opportunity to meet the Wild and test their poker-playing skills. We look forward to an exciting event."
