April 1, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Syracuse Crunch News Release

Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Crunch are welcoming Syracuse Chiefs legend Tex Simone when the Crunch host the Albany Devils on Friday, April 4 at 7 p.m. at the War Memorial Arena.

To celebrate his contributions to the Syracuse sports community, Simone will participate in a ceremonial puck drop before the game.

A Syracuse native, Simone began his journey with the Chiefs in 1961 working with the grounds crew. After working his way from Public Relations Director to Business Manager, Simone became the team's General Manager in 1970, a position he proudly held for 26 years. In his 52-year career with the Chiefs, Simone worked tirelessly to grow the Chiefs' relationship with the Syracuse community.

"With the start of baseball season upon us, we are excited to have Tex join us Friday, allowing us a chance to 'tip our cap' to him for his five-plus decades of dedication to baseball in Syracuse," said Crunch COO Jim Sarosy. "In the same way the Crunch have recognized Syracuse sports icons, like Carmen Basilio, members of the Syracuse Stars, Blazers and Nationals, we feel it is appropriate to salute Tex and thank him for his many contributions to Syracuse."

Single and season tickets for 2013-14 can be purchased either in person at the Crunch Box Office located at the War Memorial on 800 South State Street in Syracuse, or by calling the office at (315) 473- 4444.
