PLAYOFF PICTURE

The Monarchs (73 pts.) complete their home-and-home series with the Adirondack Thunder (70 pts.) in a second-place tie in the North Division with the Brampton Beast, but would be the #3 seed if the playoffs were to start today, due to having fewer wins than Brampton. The Reading Royals now own the top spot in the Division, with the Thunder occupying the fourth position.

RECAPING THE RIVALRY

After last night's 5-0 loss to the Thunder, Manchester has been outscored by Adirondack 15-4 in the past two head-to-head games with their biggest rivals. In those two games, Adirondack has gone 6-for-9 on the power play, while the Monarchs have gone 2-for-10 on the man-advantage. Adirondack now holds a 7-4-2-0 record when playing Manchester and are trailing the Monarchs by only three points in the standings.

STRIKING FIRST

Adirondack is one of the most sensitive teams in the league to scoring the first goal. Heading into Saturday's game, the Thunder are 23-1-3-2 when scoring first, but are 7-17-3-2 when allowing the first goal. Their .879 winning percentage when scoring the first goal is good for fifth best in the league and they are one of three teams with only one regulation loss after being the first to light the lamp.

HOW QUICKLY THINGS CAN CHANGE

Following a league best 17-game home-point streak dating from Dec. 3 to Feb. 25, the Monarchs have now lost two home games in a row, tying their season long home-losing streak. A 7-2 loss to Alaska on Feb. 26 and last night's loss to Adirondack have the Monarchs searching for goals, as they have been outscored 12-2 in the two games, while going a combined 0-9 on the power play.

WHERE'S THE POWER?

In the last nine games, the Monarchs have a 6.8% success rate on the power play, and have only scored two goals in 29 power-play chances. Manchester finds themselves seventh in the league in power-play percentage at 21.8%. On February 3, Manchester led the league in power-play percentage, converting at 23.5%.
