Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced that Jeff Miles, one of the team's two All-Star selections, will not partake in the All-Star festivities on January 25 and January 26. In his place, the club will send forward Jon Francisco.

Miles, a 23-year-old rookie, was leading the team with 33 points (17g, 16a) at the time of his call up to Manchester on January 19. The University of Vermont product is sixth in the ECHL in rookie scoring, and second in goals and plus/minus rating (+16). A Pickering, Ontario native, Miles has been held scoreless and added two penalty minutes in his first two games in a Monarchs sweater.

Francisco, 23, is the team's third leading scorer on its active roster. The Hermantown, Minnesota native has compiled ten goals and 11 assists for 21 points through 35 games this season. The second-year pro racked up 73 shots and was also a +11 through the Royals' first 34 games. For the majority of the 2004-2005 campaign, the former University of Minnesota-Duluth star centered the line that featured Miles and Reading's other ECHL All-Star forward, Ryan Kinasewich.

The Reading Royals are in their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals. The Royals and the City of Reading are proud to be hosting the 13th annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition presented by Coors Light on January 25 and 26.
