Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, Miss. â The ECHL announced that Mississippi Sea Wolves center Nicolas Corbeil (KOR-bay) will replace Greenville Grrrowl center Martin St. Pierre, who is on recall to Edmonton of the American Hockey League, on the American Conference roster for the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game to be held in Reading, Pennsylvania on Wednesday.
Corbeil, 21, becomes the second player to represent Mississippi at the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game joining left wing Jeff Hutchins. Selected in the third round (88th overall) by Toronto in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and assigned to Mississippi by Rochester of the AHL, the 5-foot-11 and 180-pound Corbeil has 26 points (9g-17a) in 35 games with Mississippi. In his first professional season in 2003-04, Corbeil scored 24 points (9g-15a) in 31 games with Pee Dee of the ECHL while also playing one game in the AHL with Norfolk. Corbeil also played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2003-04, scoring 30 points (9g-21a) in 27 regular season games and five points (1g-4a) in five playoff games with Cape Breton.
"It was awesome to get the news," said Corbeil. "I'm really excited to have this opportunity and I want to make the most of it. Now that the Sea Wolves are winning more, this is an added bonus."
"It's a great honor for Nicolas and the organization," said Mississippi general manager and coach Bob Woods. "He has put up good numbers and now he'll have a tremendous opportunity to showcase his talents in front of a large audience. Corbeil is a prospect that will represent the Sea Wolves with pride."
