Chiefs Kelly Not Able To Participate in All-Star Game

Johnstown, PA- The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that forward Brent Kelly will not be participating in the 2005 Coors Light/ECHL All-Star Game Wednesday night in Reading, PA.

Kelly who is currently on loan to the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins, was a starter and alternate captain for the National Conference team. He will be unable to play because Grand Rapids playing in Edmonton, Alberta the same night. Trenton's Brent Robinson will be replacing Kelly.

"It is unfortunate Brent will not be playing in the game Wednesday night, but at the same time he has a great opportunity with Grand Rapids. He has been playing great up there and there is a possibility of him being there the remainder of the season. The Chiefs are very proud of Brent Kelly's accomplishments this season," said Chief Head Coach Toby O'Brien.

Despite missing the Chiefs last eight games, Kelly is still the Chiefs leading scorer with 11 goals and 30 points in 27 games. In six games with the Griffins, he has two assists.

Jean Desrochers will now be the Chiefs lone representative at the all-star game.

The Chiefs are back in action tonight when they visit the Pee Dee (S.C.) Pride at 7:30 p.m. Tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 p.m., the Chiefs wrap up their seven day road trip in Charleston, SC when they visit the South Carolina Stingrays.
