August 1, 2007 - Eastern League (EL1)
Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Caleb Stewart had the big hit during a five-run sixth, helping the Binghamton Mets defeat the Trenton Thunder 5-2 at NYSEG Stadium Wednesday. The B-Mets ended their losing streak at five. Trenton (65-43) scored twice in the second when Omir Santos came home on an error and Reegie Corona hit a sacrifice fly. However, those were the only runs allowed by B-Mets starter Salvador Aguilar (6-5) over six innings of work.

The B-Mets (46-62) weren't able to solve Thunder starter Dan McCutchen, who left after five shutout innings. Former B-Met Tim Lavigne came onto pitch the sixth. After getting an out, Lavigne (0-2) walked Brett Harper before Vince Harrison reached on a two-base error that moved Harper to third. Mike Nickeas walked to load the bases before Caleb Stewart's three-run double to left cleared them. Jamar Hill followed with a single up the middle that scored Stewart before coming home on J.E. Cruz's double to left.

Tim McNab tossed two scoreless innings of relief before closer Carlos Muñiz got the final three outs for his 22nd save in 26 chances.

Thursday, the B-Mets play the rubber game of their three-game series against the Trenton Thunder. Bobby Parnell (1-4, 5.16) will start for the B-Mets against Jeff Marquez (11-6, 3.15) of Trenton. Game time is 7:05 from NYSEG Stadium with the radio broadcast starting at 6:50 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.

Notes: Binghamton won for just the 11th time in their last 33 meetings with Trenton, dating back to the end of the 2005 season...McCutchen was making his Double-A debut...Muñiz earned his first save since 7/20 vs. POR. ###
