(Bowie, MD) - The Baysox could not get anything going offensively and the Mets racked up eight extra base-hits, including seven doubles, to take their second in a row from Bowie 6-1 Tuesday night. Bowie starter Zach Clark allowed six runs on nine hits over 6.0 innings, giving up seven of the Mets' extra base-hits. Binghamton starter Tobi Stoner worked a stellar 7.0 innings of three-hit shutout ball, striking out six on his way to his fourth victory of the year. Stoner got some help from his defense, which doubled up the Baysox four times in the contest.

The Mets broke through early in the top of the first inning. Clark retired the first two batters he faced, but then allowed a double to Mike Carp to set the plate for Caleb Stewart. Stewart drove a homerun over the wall in left-center to give the Mets a 2-0 lead. The two-run shot marked the second consecutive game Stewart has homered in his first at-bat.

Binghamton tacked on three more runs in the top of the fifth. Josh Petersen led off with a double to right field and Clark retired the next two batters. Fernando Martinez slapped a double down the left field line to score Petersen. Jose Coronado ripped a double down the right field line to bring Martinez home and Mike Carp drew a walk to put runners on first and second. Stewart picked up a base hit to right field to plate Coronado and give the Mets a 5-0 lead.

Despite Clark's rough outing, Baysox pitching coach Mike Griffin took some positives out of the loss, "He just got a few balls up and they took advantage of them. Bottom line. He got a few pitches up in the strike zone and good hitters don't miss. I think he learned from tonight, it was a good outing, developmental-wise. You have to learn by mistakes. That's how you gain ground. Sometimes you have to learn from an experience or a game that says I made some mistakes, I left some pitches up. Now the next start, he learns from it and adjusts from it."

The Mets added another run in the top of the sixth on an RBI double by Anderson Machado to make the score 6-0 Binghamton.

The Baysox got on the board in the bottom of the eighth when Jonathan Tucker scored on a double play by Blake Davis. Sebastien Boucher collected one of just six Bowie hits on the night, but hit the ball hard each time he came up. Boucher has been on a tear since the All-Star break, and he attributes his recent success to increased confidence, "I'm seeing the ball real well and I'm getting pitches that I'm looking for so I feel really relaxed and I've been able to put good swings on the ball. I was leaning over the plate early in the season and now I've been straightening up my stance. I've just been trying to stay upright."

Boucher is one of several Baysox players that stand to see more action now that outfielder Lou Montanez has been promoted to Baltimore. He understands the team is losing an asset, but doesn't think it ruins their chances, "I'm just going to try to do the same thing, it's no different. We go out and play the game like we do every day and things will come for us."

Rommie Lewis and Wilfredo Perez combined to throw 3.0 shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out six batters altogether.

With the loss, the Baysox move to 67-51, second place in the Southern Division. The Baysox look to avoid the sweep at the hands of the Mets Wednesday afternoon as RHP Jason Berken (10-3, 3.52 ERA) goes up against Binghamton RHP Robert Parnell (10-6, 4.33 ERA).
