Motor City Mechanics News Release
10/28: Home Opener vs. Kalamazoo The Wings jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one period of play and never looked back. They would go on to score three more goals to take the game 6-0. The game also marked the debut of Brent Gretzky in a Mechanics uniform.
10/29: Mechanics Rebound From Previous Nights Loss The Mechanics made up for the previous nights game by scoring a season high seven goals. The barrage of goals started in the first when at 3:55 Matt Smith scored his first of two goals on the night, to put the Mechanics up 1-0. After Port Huron tied the game the Mechanics proceeded to score four more goals to take a 5-1 lead. The Mechanics would score two more in the third period as Scott Dobben (1) and Mike Ramsay (2nd goal of game) would put the game the bed. On the evening six Mechanics tallied multiple point nights. Matt Smith (2 goals), Adam Edinger (2 assists), Mike Ramsay (2 goals), Chris Gignac (1 goal, 3 assists), Konstantin Kalmikov (1 goal, 2 assists) and Greg Bullock (2 assists).
10/30: Mechanics Handle the Generals at Perani's Arena The first period began with five straight goals when Konstantin Kalmikov (3) started the scoring at 7:03. Scott Dobben (2), Brent Gretzky (1, first as a Mechanic), Matt Smith (3, PPG) and Greg Bullock (1, PPG) also lit the lamp in the first and the Mechanics as a team went two for six on the power play through 20 minutes of play. The only goal scored in the second was by Flints', Leo Thomas, which made the score at the end of two periods 5-1. The third period belonged to the Generals, as they would make the game interesting by scoring three unanswered goals to cut the lead to just one at 5-4. However, Motor City's Adam Edinger (3) found an empty net with five seconds left to seal the game at 6-4. On the evenings game nine players tallied points for the Mechanics. Smith (1 goal, 1 assist), Edinger (1 goal), Mike Ramsay (1 assist), Dobben (1 goal), Chris Gignac (1 assist), Kalmikov (1 goal), Peter Szabo (1 assist), Bullock (1 goal, 3 assists) and Brent Gretzky (1 goal, 3 assists). Rod Branch made 27 saves for his third win of the season and recorded his 20th win in his last 23 starts.

Player of the Week
The Mechanics nominate Center, Chris Gignac for the Sher-Wood Player of the Week. Gignac tallied five points (1 goal, 4 assists) in the three games the Mechanics played this week. He also finished with a +5 rating and notched nine shots on goal. Gignac tallied four of those points Saturday vs. Port Huron when he had 1goal and 3 assists in the 7-4 win.
Goaltender of the Week
The Mechanics nominate Rod Branch as the Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week. Branch finished the week with a 2-1-0 record, in 180 minutes played. Branch also made 94 saves on 108 shots for a .870 SV% and a 4.66 GAA in the three games played this week.
Monthly Nominees
Player of the Month
The Mechanics nominate Center Greg Bullock as the Sher-Wood Player of the Month for the Month of October. In the six games played, Bullock tallied 11 points (1 goal, 10 assists). Bullock finished the month with a +2 rating, 6 PIM, 1 PPG and nine shots on goal. During the month Bullock had four multiple point games.
Goaltender of the Month
The Mechanics nominate Rod Branch as the Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Month for the month of October. During the month Branch was 3-2-0 in 299:25 minutes played with a .876 SV% and a 4.01 GAA.
Rookie Nominee
Rookie of the Month
The Mechanics nominate Mike Ramsay as the Rookie of the Month. Through six games of play Ramsay has compiled seven points (3 goals, 4 assists), a +2 rating and 19 SOG. On Saturday Ramsay had his first two-goal game of his young career against the Port Huron Flags.
Upcoming Week: Week Three, Four Games
Wednesday, November 2nd: The Mechanics face the River Otters again in Missouri; face-off is set for 7:00 PM, CST. Last time the two teams met the Mechanics won 5-2 on opening night of the 2005-06 season. Face-off is set for 7:00 p.m., CST.
Friday, November 4th: Port Huron comes back to the Garage for the second time within a week. The two teams will face each other a total of 10 times. The last meeting the Mechanics won 7-4 on Saturday night. Face-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, November 5th:
On Saturday the Mechanics face off against the Komets of Fort Wayne. It is the first of five meetings between these two teams. Face-off is set for 7:30 p.m., CST.
Sunday, November 6th:
Sunday the Muskegon Fury visit the Garage. It is the first meeting this season for these two cross state rivals. Face-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
