Trashers crush Roanoke for second straight win

DANBURY, CT-The Trashers erupted for six unanswered goals between the first and second periods as Shawn Collymore and Alex Goupil each scored a pair to lead Danbury to a 6-2 win over Roanoke before 1,921 at the Danbury Ice Arena on Sunday night.

Collymore opened the scoring for Danbury with his first of the season at the 1:52 mark of the period, while Francis Belanger and David Hymovitz added scored before Collymore's second of the period at the 17:48 mark to give Danbury a 4-0 lead after the first period.

Alex Goupil then scored a pair of goals just 40 seconds apart at the 7:34 and 8:14 mark of the second for his second and third goals of the year to give Danbury a 6-0 lead before Roanoke scored as Steve Crusco scored at the 10:05 mark of the second period.

LP Martin added a 3rd period goal at the 13:45 mark with Roanoke on a two-man advantage to make it 6-2 in favor of Danbury.

Sly Daigle stopped 19 or 21 shots before giving way to Dustin Traylen, who made his pro debut late in the 3rd period. Traylen stopped both shots on a Roanoke power play towards the end of the game.

Jamie Hodson started and saved just five of eight shots while Shawn Conschafter turned aside 15 of 18 in relief for Roanoke, who drops to 2-3-0 while Danbury is 3-1-1 on the season.
