TRASHERS SCORE FOUR UNANSWERED GOALS IN 5-2 DRUBBING OF RICHMOND OCTOBER 29, 2005

RICHMOND, VA--Francis Belanger scored his first goal of the year and added a pair of assists as Danbury overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat Richmond 5-2 on Saturday night at the Richmond Coliseum.

Following a 1-0 Richmond lead after the first period, Belanger set up J.M. Daoust for his first goal of the season at the 2:13 mark of the second. Mike Wolf tied the score with his first of the season for Richmond at 4:20, but Belanger was set up by Daoust at the 8:09 mark to tie the scored.

Danbury gained the lead for good at the 17:54 mark of the second on a goal by Alex Goupil. Initially the goal judge didn't hit the red light, as the shot appeared to hit off the crossbar. However, following the play the Trashers asked the officials to confer and Goupil was credited with the goal.

A fight broke out when play resumed after the goal between Dennis Mullen and Carlyle Lewis. Mike Omicioli was given a game misconduct for being the 3rd man in.

Mario Larocque and Donny Grover each added their first goals of the season in the 3rd period. Sly Daigle stopped 29 of 31 shots for the win while Tyler Masters saved 31 of 36 in his second loss.

TRASHERS DROP HOME OPENER TO ELMIRA--DREW OMICIOLI SCORES BOTH IN 4-2 LOSS OCTOBER 28, 2005

DANBURY, CT--Despite a sellout crowd of 3,005, the Danbury Trashers fell to the Elmira Jackals in their home opener of the 2005-06 season by a score of 4-2. Drew Omicioli scored both Danbury's goals in the first period, but the netminding of former Trasher Ryan McIntosh kept the rest of the team off the scoreboard.

Omicioli scored his first of the game shorthanded at 6:58. The goal was his third of the season and unassisted. Just over two minutes later, the Jackals responded with a shorthanded goal of their own from Eddy Lowe, with the helper going to Jarrett Konkle.

Omicioli scored again, this time at even strength, at 11:09 also unassisted. The teams ended the first period tied at two, after Mike Dombkiewicz tipped a Jason Jaworski puck for a goal at 16:18. Eight minors were called between the two teams in the first period of play, and the Trashers had outshot their opponents 15-6

Second period scoring was all Jackals, as Jaworski got a goal to add to his assist at 11:55, and Kevin Cooper gave Elmira a two-goal cushion at 15:57 of the period. The second frame ended the scoring.

The third may not have had any goals, but the two teams came to blows at 8:37 as Dave MacIssac dropped the gloves with Elmira's Chris Mann. Each earned five minute penalties, and Mann an additional minor for a cross-check.
