Komet home opener this weekend

Fort Wayne, IN --- The new floor is down at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum and the Komets are ready to start their home slate of the 2005-06 UHL campaign this Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7:30pm against the Motor City Mechanics. It's the only game scheduled for Fort Wayne this week.

Saturday marks the Komet's 7th UHL home opener since joining the league in 1999 and the 54th consecutive home opener since Komet Hockey began in the Summit City in 1952. So far the Komets are 2-3-1 in UHL home openers and own a league-high per game attendance average of 9,083 over the past 6 years. Fort Wayne has drawn more than 10,000 fans to each of the Komet home openers the past 3 seasons. The Komets will play 38 home games during the 76-game 2005-06 season.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the pre-game festivities including the Instant Copy and Comcast Komet Schedule Posters Giveaway to all fans entering the game. Arby's also presents the Return of Icy D. Eagle! Komet legends will be honored with introductions prior to the opening faceoff and the Clancy's Scoopguys will make their first appearance of the season. Approximately 3,000 tickets remain available for Saturday night's game.

Tickets on sale.....

tickets for all 2005-06 Komet regular season home games are on sale at the Coliseum Ticket Office and online at www.ticketmaster.com. Ticket prices range from $5.00 to $19.00. Komet Season Tickets are still on sale at the Komet office at 1010 Memorial Way in Fort Wayne, open Monday thru Friday 9am-5pm. Komets 1-2-2 in the first 5.....

over the past 2 weeks the Komets have skated 5 road games to start the season. This past week the Komets were 0-2-1 in a 3-game tour of Michigan. Friday the Komets were doubled-up at Muskegon 6-3. Saturday the Komets dropped a 4-1 decision at Kalamazoo. Sunday the Komets earned a points in a 5-4 shootout loss at Port Huron.

After the first 5.....

the Komets have been whistled for a league-high 50 minor penalties and have been shorthaned 45 times (3rd highest). Damir Brujic (D) has a league-high 8 minor penalties. Guy Dupuis (D) ranks 4th among defensemen with 4 points (1g, 3a).

Streaking.....

winger P.C. Drouin is riding a 5-game point scoring streak (1g, 6a, 7pts) including a league-high 5-game assist streak (6 assists).

Firsts.....

goalie Derek Dolson signed on with the Komets last week and made his UHL and Komet debut Sunday in Port Huron stopping 25 of 29 Flag shots to earn a point in a 5-4 shootout loss. Center David Carpentier scored his first pro goal and point in Sunday's match at Port Huron.

most of the Komet games are broadcast on WOWO Radio AM 1190 this year with Bob Chase at the Fort Wayne microphone for his 53rd consecutive season. Some games will be aired on WKJG/ESPN Radio AM 1380 as an alternative when conflicts occur. All games aired on the radio will also be available via the internet at www.komets.com Comcast KometCast.
