McFarland Roughed up as Aeros Fall to SeaWolves, 10-3

ERIE, PA - T.J. McFarland gave up eight earned runs in just 2.1 innings of work as the Akron Aeros lost game one of a three-game series to the Erie SeaWolves 10-3 Monday at Jerry Uht Park.

McFarland suffered the loss for the Aeros walking three and striking out none.

Jacob Turner picked up the win for the SeaWolves tossing 6.2 innings, giving up one unearned run, scattering five hits, walking three and striking out six.

The SeaWolves (14-15) got a run in the bottom of the first inning and erupted for six in the bottom of the second. With a runner on first and one out in the second, Shawn Roof doubled home a run to give Erie a 2-0 lead. Roof advanced to third on a Jamie Johnson groundout. Brandon Douglas followed with an RBI single that made it 3-0. Later in the frame with the bases loaded, Audy Ciriaco drove in two with a single. The inning was capped off with a Bryan Holaday two-RBI double that gave the SeaWolves a 7-0 lead.

Erie added a run in the third inning and two in the fourth to take a 10-0 lead.

The Aeros (14-17) got a run in the top of the seventh inning on a Karexon Sanchez RBI double and two more in the ninth, but drew no closer as Erie got the win.

The Aeros will look to win game two of this three-game series Tuesday. Left-handed pitcher Matt Packer will get the start for Akron still looking for his first win of 2011. Packer is 0-4 with a 4.67 ERA this season. He will face righty Mark Sorenson, who is 1-2 with a 5.79 ERA.
