RHP Chorye Spoone Heads to Norfolk

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce a series of roster moves today. RHP Chorye Spoone was transferred to class Triple-A Norfolk, 1B Billy Rowell was activated from the disabled list, LHP Nick Bierbrodt was transferred to Bowie from class Triple-A Norfolk and RHP Brandon Cooney was placed on the Disabled List retroactive to May 7. With the moves, the Baysox have 23 active players on their 24-man roster.

Spoone is 2-0 with a 3.75 ERA in five starts for the Tides this season. Over 24.0 innings with Norfolk, Spoone has walked 13 batters while striking out 10. Spoone was the Baysox Opening Day starter, and is 1-0 with a 9.00 ERA in one start for Bowie this season.

Rowell has appeared in 14 games for Bowie this season, batting .231 (9-39) with 4 RBIs. He has been on the Disabled List since May 2.

Bierbrodt appeared in six games for the Tides this season, going 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA over 8.0 innings. He held opponents scoreless in four of his six appearances.

Cooney appeared in eight games for the Baysox this season. The right-hander is 1-1 with one save and a 2.70 ERA over 10.0 innings of work. He did not allow an earned run in six of his eight appearances. He is eligible to come off the Disabled List Saturday, May 14.
