Harrisburg Senators News Release

On Monday night at Metro Bank Park, the Senators snapped their three-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the Altoona Curve. It was the third Senators win in walk-off fashion at Metro Bank Park.

The game was tied into the bottom of the ninth. The Sens loaded the bases on three walks issued by Noah Kroll before Jesus Valdez came to the plate. Valdez hit a sharp grounder to third base, that was bobbled momentarily by Jeremy Farrell, and as he recovered he threw to second to start a double-play, but the throw to second was too late to get Jonathan Tucker at second even though the relay to first was in time to get Valdez. Officially Valdez is credited with a game winning rbi groundout scoring Derek Norris.

Tim Pahuta homered twice for the Senators, the third straight game a player for the Sens has done that. Erik Arnesen made his first start of the year and went 5.1 innings and allowed just two runs on five hits. Jimmy Barthmaier and Cory VanAllen combined to pitch 2.2 innings and allowed just a single hit. Ryan Mattheus pitched a perfect ninth to earn his second win on the season.

With the win, the Sens improve to .500 at 15-15, snapping their three-game losing streak while the Curve drop to 14-15.

Game two of the three game series is Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. with RH Shairon Martis on the mound for the Sens against RH Aaron Pribanic for Altoona. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m.
