
Mavericks Take Home 14 Honors in CHL's "Best of the Best"

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Central Hockey League released its annual "Best of the Best" poll Thursday morning. CHL coaches, players and front office personnel are asked to name the best franchises in 50 different categories, ranging from Best Fans to Best Arena Music. The Missouri Mavericks were named the best in the league in four different categories and placed in the top three in 11 other categories, bringing their total to 14.
Mavs' forward Ed McGrane was named the league's Most Gentlemanly Player and defenseman David Simoes was voted as the league's Best Pound-for-Pound Fighter. The Mavericks front office placed first overall in two awards as well, for Best Website and Best Use of Social Media. The Mavs have now won Best Website and Best Use of Social Media two years in a row.
The Mavericks placed second in six different categories. Sebastien Thinel for Best Playmaker, Andrew Courtney for Best Power Forward, Best Fans, Best On-Ice Promotions, Best Cheerleaders/Dance Team (Filly Spirit Squad) and Most Attractive Place to Play. Missouri placed third in Best Training/Equipment Staff, Best Press Box, Best Game Notes and Best City.
The Mavs continue their march towards the playoffs this weekend, with three games in three nights. Friday night, the Mavs are in Bloomington before returning home for a home-and-home series with the Tulsa Oilers on Saturday before hitting the road for a Sunday afternoon game in Oklahoma. After this weekend, the Mavericks will have just four games remaining on their regular season schedule.
Missouri Mavericks 2012-13 season tickets are now on sale. A $50 dollar non-refundable deposit is required for all season tickets. Every person who puts down their deposit before the Mavs final home game on March 24 will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win an $18,000 Harley-Davidson Fatboy motorcycle, 60-inch HDTV and many other valuable prizes.
