Oilers Earn Recognition in CHL's "Best of the Best" Awards

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers placed in four categories in the Central Hockey Leauge's annual "Best of the Best" poll which consists of 50 categories and is voted on by players, coaches, and team staff members.

Oilers center Mike Ullrich placed third in the "Best Rookie" category. Ullrich, who is tied for first in rookie goal scoring and tied for the team lead in points, finished behind Mark Guggenberger (G-Texas) and Jared Brown (F-Quad City). The 25-year old Alberta native is still on the ballot for CHL Rookie of the Year which will be announced next week.

Head Coach Bruce Ramsay, now finishing his third season behind the Tulsa bench, ended up third for "Best Coach." Wichita's Kevin McClelland took the top spot, followed by Rich Kromm of Evansville.

Tulsa's arena and its accommodations were also recognized for excellence. The BOK Center placed third in the voting for "Best Arena" and opposing players ranked the BOK locker rooms as second best in the league.

In other notable categories, Evansville forward Todd Robinson got the nod for "Best Overall Player," Alex Bourret of Wichita was tabbed "Most Annoying Player," and the Texas Brahmas home, the NYTEX Sports Centre, was selected as the "Toughest Building To Win In."

The Oilers return to action Friday night at 7:35 p.m. when they host the Arizona Sundogs on Youth Jersey Night at the BOK Center. The first 500 kids (12 and under) will receive a free Oilers youth jersey. Tulsa has seven games remaining to make a final push for the fourth Berry Conference playoff spot.
