Blaze Work Ethic Recognized in Best of Best Poll
March 15, 2012 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bloomington Blaze News Release
The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, were named one of the hardest working teams in the Central Hockey League Best of the Best poll released today.
The Blaze received third place in the Hardest Working Team category in the annual poll of league representatives. Aaron Dawson was voted third in the Best Defensive Defenseman category, while U.S. Cellular Coliseum was voted as the third best ice surface. Blaze style has caught the eye of the league as well, as the Blaze jerseys placed second in voting for best uniforms.
Each team in the Central Hockey League is asked to vote for the top teams, players and facilities in 50 categories. The complete list can be found at www.centralhockeyleague.com.
The Blaze conclude the home portion of the inaugural season on Friday and Saturday with matchups against Turner Conference foes. On Friday, the Missouri Mavericks visit on Pepsi Date Night, in which fans who bring a Pepsi product to the box office when purchasing a reserved seat ticket receive a second ticket free, and combo meals are priced two for one. Pepsi products are donated to Clare House Food Pantry. Also on Friday, the first 1,200 fans will receive a fleece blanket compliments of Mid-Illini Credit Union.
Saturday marks the final home game of the season when the Dayton Gems meet the Blaze for a 7:05 p.m. face-off at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Saturday is Fan Appreciation Night, including player end-of-season awards presented before the game, and the night will be a giant St. Patrick's Day party as the Blaze wear special Irish-themed jerseys to be auctioned immediately after the game. The Blaze then end the season with four games on the road next week, on Monday and Tuesday at Rapid City, on Friday at Missouri and on Saturday at Quad City.
Group discounts are still available for the final two home games this weekend. Information about the Blaze can be found at www.bloomingtonblaze.com, Facebook, Twitter (BLMBlaze) or by calling 309-434-2980.
