Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - On Thursday morning, the Central Hockey League (CHL) released the results of its annual "Best of the Best" poll, highlighting the top three individuals or organizations in 50 separate categories. The Rush were represented in a team record fifteen different categories and voted #1 in five areas, including 'Best Fans' and 'Best Ice'.
For the second time in three seasons, Rapid City is home to the 'Best Fans' in the CHL. The Rush faithful have packed the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center for five sellouts this season as the organization has averaged over 4,700 fans per home game. During Rapid City's 2009-10 championship season, the Black Hills community was honored with the same distinction.
At the same time, the RPCC also earned its second 'Best Ice Surface' nod while the Civic Center was voted the third 'Toughest Building to Win In'.
Rush veteran Shawn Limpright was voted 'Best Defensive Forward' and finished third for 'Best Playmaker'.
Claiming #2 rankings were Konrad Reeder for 'Fastest Skater', Riley Weselowski for 'Best Defensive Defenseman' and Collin Circelli for 'Most Gentlemanly Player'.
All-Star starter Jesse Schultz was deemed #3 in 'Best Stickhandler'.
The duo of Equipment Manager Romeo Vivit and Athletic Trainer Greg Heuer claimed the top spot in 'Best Training / Equipment Staff' while Jay Davis won in a landslide for 'Best PA Announcer' honors in his just first season behind the microphone.
The Rush were also represented in 'Best Team Logo' (#2) and 'Best Arena Concessions' (#2).
Finally, the Black Hills is home to the #3 'Most Attractive Place to Play' and the Rapid City Rush Booster Club received recognition with a #3 ranking in 'Best Booster Club'.
