Independence, MO (December 16, 2014) -- The Missouri Mavericks (11-11-0-0) earned their first shutout of the season with a 2-0 triumph over the Rapid City Rush (7-14-0-2) on Tuesday night at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Arena and in the process moved their record back to .500 for the season.

Rookie Maxime Lagace made 32 saves earning his first professional shutout which included 12 saves in the opening period and 12 saves in the final frame. The goalie and the Mavs also had to deal with three Rapid City power plays. With the win, Lagace moves to 3-2 on the season and lowers his goals against average to 2.21.

Former Rush forward Jared Brown scored the game's first goal in the second period and it proved to be the game winner (Brown played 102 games with Rapid City over the previous two seasons). Brown's goal was assisted by Sebastien Thinel and Alex Lepkowski; it was his fourth strike of the season and he paced the Mavericks with seven shots on goal in the game.

In the third period, Andrew Courtney would give his team and Lagace a little breathing room with his sixth goal of the season, assisted by Chris Crane.

The Mavs outshot the Rush 35-32 in the game.

Missouri is back in action on Friday night when they host the Brampton Beast at Independence Events Center for STAR WARS NIGHT. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 PM (CST). Tickets are still available in-person at the box office and online at TicketMaster.com.
