
Southorn Returns to the Gladiators

DULUTH, Ga. - The Gladiators' AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates, announced that defenseman Jordon Southorn has been reassigned to Gwinnett on Wednesday. It will be Southorn's second assignment with the Gladiators this season.
Southorn, 24, played in five games with the Gladiators this year, from October 27th to November 13th. During his time with the Gladiators, Southorn scored two goals and three assists. That includes an assist and two goals - one of which was the overtime game-winner - in his debut game on October 29th, a 5-4 OT win for Gwinnett over the Orlando Solar Bears.
The Montreal, Quebec native has played in eight games this year for the Pirates, picking up four penalty minutes and a +4 plus-minus rating. Southorn also played in one game for Portland last season, chipping in two assists.
He was drafted in the fourth round (104th overall) by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. In all, Southorn has played in 210 ECHL games, with 105 points (34 goals, 71 assists) to his name. He also picked up 105 points (27g, 78a) in 258 games for the Prince Edward Island Rocket of the QMJHL from 2006 to 2010.
Southorn will join the Gladiators in time for tonight's 7:30 p.m. game against the Florida Everblades in Estero, Fla. The Gladiators will return to Gwinnett on Sunday, December 21st for a 2:05 p.m. game against the Orlando Solar Bears for their annual Holiday Game.
