Mateo Becomes 45th Dragons Player to Reach Major Leagues

Dayton, Ohio-Marcos Mateo, a member of the 2007 Dayton Dragons, made his Major League debut this week with the Chicago Cubs, becoming the 45th former Dragons player to play in the big leagues. Mateo appeared out of the Cubs bullpen in San Francisco on Monday in his first Major League appearance.

Mateo made 41 relief appearances for the 2007 Dragons, posting a record of 2-4 with a 3.50 earned run average and six saves. Mateo was traded by the Reds to the Cubs on August 30, 2007 in exchange for outfielder Buck Coats.

Other former Dragons to reach the Major Leagues this season include pitchers Logan Ondrusek, Enerio Del Rosario, Jordan Smith, and Travis Wood and outfielder Chris Heisey (all with the Reds).
