
Rattlers Return Fire with 7-6 Win Over Quad Cities

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits dropped the second of their three game set with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Thursday night at Modern Woodmen Park. The Bandits fell behind 5-0 after four innings, despite a three run homer in the eighth were unable to overtake the Rattlers, falling 7-6.
Rainel Rosario had an offensive explosion going 2-for-4 with a three run homer and an RBI single. Robert Stock also went 2-for-4. He roped a double and had two RBI in the game. Matt Adam's fourth inning single extended his hit streak to 11 straight games which ties former River Bandit D'Marcus Ingram and current outfielder Freddy Parejo for the longest of the season.
Joe Kelly (6-7) went just 3.1 innings as the Bandits starter and was charged with his seventh loss of the season. Kelly was touched for five runs on five hits. Justin Smith, Dan Calhoun, and Dean Kiekhefer went combined for the final 5.2 innings and surrendered just one run for the Bandits.
Del Howell (3-5) was charged with just two unearned runs in the start for Wisconsin. Howell went five strong to pick up his third win of the season. He walked four and struck out five. Jon Pokorny (13) picked up his 13th save pitching a scoreless ninth.
The River Bandits try to take the series on Friday night when they send righty Eric Fornataro (7-11) to the mound. Fornataro will face fellow right-hander Damon Krestalude (2-8). Game time is set for 7 p.m. on another Lujack's Fireworks Friday night at Modern Woodmen Park.
