Rochester Red Wings News Release
The Wings have now won five straight after their 5-1 victory against the IronPigs Friday night at Frontier Field. This is the first time they've clinched a series win since the first week of June.
The Wings sent LHP* Mackenzie Gore *to the slab for a rehab start in tonight's contest. He gave up four hits, fanned and walked two in his scoreless 2.2 innings of work.
CF* Andrew Stevenson *collected his 142nd hit of the year on a ground-rule double in the opening frame; he went on to score on an RBI single from 1B John Nogoswki.
RHP* Tommy Romero *piggy-backed Gore's short rehab start. He logged 5.1 innings giving up just one earned run on two hits. He struck out and walked two in his efficient outing for the Wings.
In the bottom of the third, the Wings combined for four runs on two wild pitches and three consecutive RBI singles from 3B Jake Alu, DH Nick Banks, and LF DJ Peters.
The IronPigs got on the board in the sixth with a solo home run off the bat of 3B Daniel Robertson to make the score 5-1.
The Wings brought in RHP Connor Sadzeck to finish the game in the ninth.
In his return to the line-up, Nick Banks picked up where he left off, going 2-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored extending his on-base streak to 13 games.
Alu and Peters also had multi-hit performances collecting an RBI apiece in the process.
The Wings look to win their sixth consecutive game Saturday night at 6:05pm. They'll send RHP Logan Verrett (7-9) to the bump for the start. ¬â¹
