Augusta Lynx News Release

Mike Wall won his second consecutive game for the Augusta Lynx while Sam Ftorek and Joel Stepp each recorded a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over the Victoria Salmon Kings Saturday night.

After a scoreless first period, the Lynx (19-23-3) jumped on the board first when Anthony Battaglia fought through the Victoria (16-26-4) defense to score on a Sam Ftorek rebound for a 1-0 lead. Ken Scuderi also helped set up the goal at 3:05. Mike Josephson took advantage of a puckhandling miscue to break in alone and beat Mike Wall through the legs to tie the game, but Ftorek would respond by tipping a Martin Lapointe shot for a power play goal and a 2-1 lead. Joel Stepp also notched a helper on the goal at 18:31 to send Augusta into the intermission up by a goal.

In the third, Victoria pressed with all they had but could not find a way to get the puck past Wall one more time. Instead, Wall helped his own cause by setting up Stepp's empty net marker to cement the 3-1 win while also notching 30 saves for the victory.

Augusta finished the game 1-for-2 on the power play while Victoria failed to cash in on five mand advantage chances.

The Lynx finish their five-game western road swing with a 2-3-0 mark, and now head home to face the Charlotte Checkers this Friday night at 7:35 pm. The Classic Stucco and Stone Pre-Game Show kicks off one half-hour before faceoff on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630. Tickets are on sale now through the Lynx office at (706) 724-4ICE, on line through www.TicketMaster.com, or all TicketMaster locations.
